More Energy Less Stress

It was my wife that actually gave me the nudge to try something new. We were driving by Fit Soldiers one day and saw a bunch of folks outside working out. It looked like something totally different then what I was doing before. I was looking to try something new besides those big box gyms where you do the same thing over and over again. I was no longer motivated at those kinds of places and had stopped going. After my first Fit Soldiers workout of doing Spartacus, I was hooked!

Before I came to Fit Soldiers I thought I was in fairly good shape because I played soccer, hiked, and biked. But now I have a lot more stamina when playing soccer and I can run the whole game. Another thing I have noticed is that typical hikes used to tire me out and now a 5 mile hike is a breeze!

Since I started at Fit Soldiers I’ve dropped 10 pounds and 5% body fat. My fitness level has never been higher! I have more energy during the day, my stress level is a lot lower, and my core is solid. Also having great personal trainers has helped me work on my form, which has made my workouts a lot better.

Another thing that has changed since coming here is my nutrition. Dave did a grocery store tour that made me more aware of what is actually in food. Now I check the food labels and try to stay away

from fast food places. I’m eating more fruits, vegetables, and also eating at home more. I buy food that is good for me instead of ice cream and cookies.

My two favorite things about Fit Soldiers are the trainers and the people who are there. Everyone is in an upbeat mood and encourages each other to get better. I like the variety of exercises we do too. We focus on all the different parts of the body each workout. You never know what to expect when you walk through the doors!

Recipe of the Week - Cajun Spiced Chicken

on Thursday, 17 May 2012. Posted in Brighton, Recipes, Westminster, Thornton

Cajun ChickenHey everyone! My recipe of the week has turned into recipe of the month lately. I am sorry I have not been posting recipes more regularly. I am going be better about it this summer though, I promise!

With the temperature outside heating up, Dave and I have been grilling a lot more. I found this recipe in one of my cookbooks the other day and ever since we tried it we have been hooked! It seems to be on our menu once a week now. Give it a try with some steamed basmati rice and a simple green salad and you soon you will be a believer too! Because let's face it...plain grilled chicken get's boring after a while.

Ingredients:

6 medium chicken breast filets (you can do less like Dave and I do but then you will just have extra spice mix ready for the next time you want to make this delicious chicken!)

1/3 cup butter (less if you are only doing a few chicken breasts)

1tsp garlic powder

2tsp onion powder

2tsp cayenne pepper(less if you can't handle the heat!)

2tsp paprika

1/4tsp ground cumin

1tsp dried thyme

1 and 1/2tsp each salt and ground black pepper

Fit Soldiers Finest : Jacquie Buell

Written by David Mura on Thursday, 19 January 2012. Posted in Brighton, Testimonials

Talk about pulling a 180 when it comes to turning your life around! Jacquie did just that. The first time we met she was walking with a cane and probably only giving us a try as a last ditch effort. She certainly didn't expect the results she has gotten.

From a cane walking, cigarette smoking, next to nothing fitness level, Jacquie is now a snowshoe fanatic, has done numerous 5K's and 10K's, and nearly summited her first 14er this past summer.

Jacquie has completely changed her fitness outlook and now knows that she is capable of much bigger and better things!

Keep it up Jacquie! Welcome to the Fit Soldiers Finest!

Tips to Prevent Scary Weight Gain Durring the Holidays

on Sunday, 30 October 2011. Posted in Brighton, Westminster, Thornton, Northglenn, Motivation

Halloween marks the beginning of the "weight gain season?" Yes, tonight, well probably even this past weekend, the average American will begin to gain 7-10 pounds of body fat before the end of the year!
That's way too much.
This "weight gain season" doesn't just stop on January 1st.  Despite all the "New Years Resolutions" the season will continue until Superbowl Sunday!
I have my theories for that but I'll get to that at a later date.
As Fit Soldiers we are committed to be 'Fit NOT Fat for the Holiday's.' Taking it one day, or holiday, at a time.
