Recipe of the week - Dinner: Simple and Delicious

on Wednesday, 25 January 2012. Posted in Thornton, Recipes

Dinner doesn't always have to involve so much time and

effort. Last night I wanted to make something simple, fast,

and yet delicious...and I did! Don't over complicate your

meal planning. Try using items that are often in your

refrigerator, on your counter, or in your spice rack.

I want to give you some tips on how to avoid some major catastrophic weight gain this holiday season. The concepts are simple but the temptations are large. A little self control will go a long way day-to-day and especially on the the big holidays and parties.

Recipe of the Week: 'Vegged Out' Pumpkin and Black Bean Soup

Written by David Mura on Wednesday, 16 November 2011. Posted in Thornton, Recipes

Hey Folks,

With the temperature all over the place this time of year here in Thornton Colorado we have for you a super fast yet comforting recipe to throw together.  Most of the  vegetables are seasonal so you'll get the best bang for your buck. This is both cost effective and tasty!

Katie and I whipped up this recipe on Sunday afternoon after church.  It may seem like quite a few ingredients, but it is a super fast one to make, 15-20 minutes. The cool thing about it is that it will look exactly like the photo! How often does that happen?

Tips to Prevent Scary Weight Gain Durring the Holidays

on Sunday, 30 October 2011. Posted in Thornton, Westminster, Brighton, Northglenn, Motivation

Halloween marks the beginning of the "weight gain season?" Yes, tonight, well probably even this past weekend, the average American will begin to gain 7-10 pounds of body fat before the end of the year!
That's way too much.
This "weight gain season" doesn't just stop on January 1st.  Despite all the "New Years Resolutions" the season will continue until Superbowl Sunday!
I have my theories for that but I'll get to that at a later date.
As Fit Soldiers we are committed to be 'Fit NOT Fat for the Holiday's.' Taking it one day, or holiday, at a time.

Thornton Boot Campers Just Do It

Written by David Mura on Monday, 14 March 2011. Posted in Thornton, Motivation

Hey There Fit Soldiers.

Amazing weekend as they all should be.  Yes even with minus one hour of sleep.  I was out for my long run just yesterday and as the weather is warming a lot more people are jumping out and onto the trail to get active.  Early into my run I passed a woman wearing a good ol vintage Nike shirt.  "Just Do It."  It may seem like I am getting a kick back from Nike right now but despite my enormous following I don't think I quite make the cut...  If only they knew what they were missing... haha right.

Hey Fit Soldiers

As the weather turns from cold to warmer go ahead and dust of your grill, make sure the propane is ready, and get an early taste of those summer BBQ's.  Dinner can't get much easier than this.

Thornton CO Boot Camp Bathe Daily

Written by David Mura on Monday, 07 February 2011. Posted in Thornton, Motivation

Team Fit Soldiers how are you today!!

Based on if your team won or how much money you might have won or lost on the Super Bowl last night just might have a determining factor on how your mood is today.  Well I can't do anything about that sorry. I will throw a little incite to hopefully motivate you to get your butt in gear this balmy Monday morning.

I want to ask you a question.  What are you doing to motivate and achieve your goals?  We here at Fit Soldiers provide a pretty solid community and motivational environment but what happens when you walk out of our doors?  Here's a little quote for you.

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing--that's why we recommend it daily."  -Zig Ziglar

Motivation comes in all sorts of forms, and its different for everybody.  What does yours look like?  A lot of ours may look similar.

What happens when you're on your own?  Do you surround yourself with like mined people.  Or a supportive community (family, friends, co-workers) that are encouraging you to eat right?

What does your environment look like?  Do you have healthy food in the house, not junk food that will be a constant temptation to throw you off track?

We tell you to be consistent.  Consistent with your workouts.  Consistent with your nutrition.  It WILL pay off in the long run but how do you stay consistent?

By staying motivated.  Daily you must find the fire inside of you some how to keep you motivated.

Here's how I am staying consistent.  I'm training for a marathon.  26.2 brutal miles.  Don't think that every run every mile, workout, step is fun.  So WHY am I doing it?  Because I registered for the Colorado Marathon on May 1st.  Why?  Because I want to run in the Super Bowl of marathons.  Boston Marathon 2012!!!

Day in and day out I know that if the miles aren't put in, I'm not going to run as best I can.  If I don't stay consistent, I won't qualify for Boston.

Now that I told all of you I am expecting a greater base of support, encouragement, and accountability to my goals.  You should do the same.  Start HERE.  Post your goals and let us help you out!!
