Thornton Boot Campers Just Do It

Written by David Mura on Monday, 14 March 2011. Posted in Thornton, Motivation

Hey There Fit Soldiers.

Amazing weekend as they all should be.  Yes even with minus one hour of sleep.  I was out for my long run just yesterday and as the weather is warming a lot more people are jumping out and onto the trail to get active.  Early into my run I passed a woman wearing a good ol vintage Nike shirt.  "Just Do It."  It may seem like I am getting a kick back from Nike right now but despite my enormous following I don't think I quite make the cut...  If only they knew what they were missing... haha right.

Hey Fit Soldiers

As the weather turns from cold to warmer go ahead and dust of your grill, make sure the propane is ready, and get an early taste of those summer BBQ's.  Dinner can't get much easier than this.

Thornton CO Boot Camp Bathe Daily

Written by David Mura on Monday, 07 February 2011. Posted in Thornton, Motivation

Team Fit Soldiers how are you today!!

Based on if your team won or how much money you might have won or lost on the Super Bowl last night just might have a determining factor on how your mood is today.  Well I can't do anything about that sorry. I will throw a little incite to hopefully motivate you to get your butt in gear this balmy Monday morning.

I want to ask you a question.  What are you doing to motivate and achieve your goals?  We here at Fit Soldiers provide a pretty solid community and motivational environment but what happens when you walk out of our doors?  Here's a little quote for you.

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing--that's why we recommend it daily."  -Zig Ziglar

Motivation comes in all sorts of forms, and its different for everybody.  What does yours look like?  A lot of ours may look similar.

What happens when you're on your own?  Do you surround yourself with like mined people.  Or a supportive community (family, friends, co-workers) that are encouraging you to eat right?

What does your environment look like?  Do you have healthy food in the house, not junk food that will be a constant temptation to throw you off track?

We tell you to be consistent.  Consistent with your workouts.  Consistent with your nutrition.  It WILL pay off in the long run but how do you stay consistent?

By staying motivated.  Daily you must find the fire inside of you some how to keep you motivated.

Here's how I am staying consistent.  I'm training for a marathon.  26.2 brutal miles.  Don't think that every run every mile, workout, step is fun.  So WHY am I doing it?  Because I registered for the Colorado Marathon on May 1st.  Why?  Because I want to run in the Super Bowl of marathons.  Boston Marathon 2012!!!

Day in and day out I know that if the miles aren't put in, I'm not going to run as best I can.  If I don't stay consistent, I won't qualify for Boston.

Now that I told all of you I am expecting a greater base of support, encouragement, and accountability to my goals.  You should do the same.  Start HERE.  Post your goals and let us help you out!!

Northglenn Boot Camp Free Stuff!

Hey Team!

We like to dedicate Wednesdays to tweaking societies warped view on nutrition and trying to set a few things strait. So here's a little information to soak up in your fantastical brain!  Make sure you apply it too.  Read to the bottom and click the link for a trial of Pro/Grade mens or womens multi!

You've heard the phrase "You are what you eat" many times before.  Though I think its safe to say that we will not take it literally we may not take it as serious as we should.

When the topic of nutrition comes up you'll hear me say quite often "If you eat like crap you'll feel like crap.  If you eat great you'll feel great."  The food you eat is important.  Going from eating poor to eating great will make a world of a difference.

But what if you already eat good?  What if the good things you ate still weren't enough?  Well they probably aren't unless your eating way too much of the good stuff.  Fruits, vegetables, grains, meats the list goes on just aren't what they used to be.

Soils have been striped of their once rich nutrients so our produce and grains are weak in many nutrient areas.  Yet we still assume they are just as good.

"The U.S. Department of Agriculture, the World Health Organization, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion agree – you should eat more fruits and vegetables.

Up to 10 total servings a day!"

This is something most of us know and have heard before.  A multi-vitamin will help pick up where your food falls short.  I absolutely agree with taking a multi, and take one myself.  But where do you start? There are 10's of thousands of supplement companies out there that push their product on you through grand marketing schemes.

So who do you believe?  The problem is that there is NO regulation on the supplement industry, so anyone can go out and produce a product with cheap vitamins and minerals, market the crap out of it and people will buy it.  So a little research is needed to see who is actually legit and who is ripping you off.

Here lies the other problem.  Who has all the time to research the problem.  So we fall back to marketing.  We go with the one that talks the biggest game when that's not always the case.

Well long story short we have done the research and you may have been seeing the little "Pro Grade" logo around lately.  Here's your chance to see for your self.

The link here will allow you to try it for FREE.  Click below choose men's or Woman's and see the difference it makes.

Thornton CO Boot Camp We Give You The Best

Written by David Mura on Friday, 28 January 2011. Posted in Thornton, Nutrition, Information

Hello Fit Soldier Team,
Day in and day out we strive to not just give you a good workout.  Rather we put into your workouts a growing base of fitness knowledge, and creativity.
The same is NOT true for the vitamin and supplement industry.  (check out the blog post from a few weeks back Truth About Supplements) The quick truth is that the vast majority of them are crap.  There are no regulations on supplements.  In short as they do in the video.  You and I can blend together our own cheap vitamin or supplement, sell it for big bucks, all without doing anything wrong.

Northglenn Fitness Boot Camp BE THE BEST!

Pretzle Pete Demo on how not to do a squatHey Fit Soldiers!!  You are the best, and getting better!  How is that possible.  We constantly strive to continue to be the best program you'll find hands down.  Part of that is making sure that each and everyone of you is the best.

We can't run until we can walk, walk until we can crawl.  Essentially everyday we would should be progressing at something large or small.

Same goes for exercises, but this is often forgotten.  Far too many people progress their fitness program to what may feel like great feats but are really just injuries waiting to happen.  Because you are not the best at the basics.

The problem may come from many places.  Lack of knowledge, impatience, poor sources, peer pressure.  Whatever the source, it's time to fix it.  It's time to be best at the basics.

Before a proper push up comes core stabilization.  A proper squat requires glute activation.  The perfect row demands spinal alignment.  These are just a few of the basics.

I will not allow progressions to be made without proper form technique and appropriate muscle activation.  In other words I will not allow an injury on my watch.

I love finding poor form from our members.  I love correcting them.  Not in a demeaning way. NO.  Rather it is going to make them BETTER.  YOU will become better knowing you are not only working hard but working correctly.

There are a lot of exercises out there and even more names for a lot of the same stuff.  There are even more variations for basic exercises.  Lets take a push up.  Wide, narrow, staggered, standard, stable, unstable, single leg, elevated, suspended...the list goes on.  But at the very root of that exercise is not chest, arm shoulder strength.  Negative.  How bout core strength and stability.

Once that core is stable and strong so becomes the targeted muscles of the movement.  So next time your in doing a squat it better not look like Pretzel Pete above!

Til next time!
Dashing Dave!

Thornton CO Boot Camp No Joke

Written by David Mura on Thursday, 13 January 2011. Posted in Thornton, Nutrition, Information

We Don't Feed You Rubbish

Hey Fit Soldiers,

If you've experienced our fitness boot camp then you know we are not messing around when we aim to provide the safest most effective metabolic fitness program possible.  Our program design thoroughly thought planned  with you and your goals number 1.  That's the part that comes natural.

The part we have to put a little more effort into is what goes into your body.  We have a solid nutrition base and offer grocery store tours monthly.  We are willing to sit down and review and guide your nutrition. We also recognize the fact that there are some necessary, and important supplementation's that we all need to add into our nutrition plan for all goals ranging from general health, weight loss, strength, and performance gains.

Examples: Multi's, Omega's, Pre/Post Workout drinks etc.  Does everyone need them all?  NO.  Are multi's important.  YES.  Here's the problem though.  I'll let the video explain...

Yeah, NO regulation what so ever.  Be careful when choosing your products because most of them are rubbish.

Stay tuned, we've been doing our research and home work...
