Plateau Buster Activities

Written by David Mura on Friday, 18 November 2011. Posted in Vacation Workout, Westminster, Information, Workout of the Day

This past week in our MYM class we talked at length about plateaus. We dug deep in to the reasons they come along and different solutions for them. Though they can seem deflating when your expecting continued results and suddenly you've come to a screeching halt.

Well I want you to think of that as a WIN. Yes a plateau as a win in your column. Yes your body has adapted to what ever your throwing at it but, nutrition and exercise, think of it like this.  Your body is telling you "I am ready for the next stage" - "I have conquered this routine" - "Give me something new!!"

Now the FUN begins!

Recipe Of The Week: Minestrone Soup

Hey Fit Soldiers!

My wife and I got this recipe from the Food Network.  It was actually really amazing and I totally recommend it!

We tweaked a couple things like added some extra carrots, celery, and accidentally doubled the sage, salt, and pepper.  But, still it turned out awesome.

It looks like a cool Saturday so try it out this weekend!

Chicken Alfredo

Hey Fit Soldiers,

With the the big Marathon coming up next weekend I wanted to throw this out there.  It's time for the runners to start planning their week of food and preparation so that we are primed and ready to go!  So this has a little carbohydrate focus.

When it comes to "carb loading" there is no way for your body to "carb load" with one big pasta dinner.  This can be a recipe for disaster.  So if your planning for a big endurance type event make sure your including them more regularly the 3-5 days leading up to the event.  (same goes with water)

I've got a tasty treat for you today.  As promised I have a crockpot recipe for the good ole steel cut oats, or "steelys" as my wife and I refer to them.  Check it out and have it your way!
